all i was thinking was maybe a change of ground might be worth a go now and then , but DONT get hung up on scores shooting is a perishable skill , you need to practice, practice ,and more practice paying attention to your troublesome birds , and buy working out what you doing wrong , then changing your attack so-to-speak ,

all of this is assuming that you gun fits ect ect .

just don't beat yourself up over it or your start to not enjoy it .

No problem I probably could do with going more that 2 times a month. I enjoy the shooting what ever the score. Thanks for the advice

I have been clay pigeon shooting for a year on sporting clays 2 times a month and I just can't get into the 40s I am sat in 32 - 37 out of 50 just can't get that 40. Hoping to sort that out by this time next year.

Anybody els stuck with a score and can't get passed it.

A lot depends on your shoot. What scores are the top guns scoring? I've just restarted after an 11 year break and my best score in sporting so far is 31 although second in class C last 2 shoots at what is considered a tricky shoot. I shoot skeet once a week to hone technique. At the end of the day everyone has a level of talent. Practise can't make everyone a Digweed.

No one ever gets a straight 50. Top shots are in 46s I don't have enough spare cash to be the next digweed ha ha. He is something special like Phil Taylor with the darts.

Duncan Lawton and more than once. I suspect A J Smith and many others did in their time. You could speak to AJ...many then and now you just get a 'don't disturb me while I am shooting grunt.

I have broken into the 40's twice in 45 years (that I clearly recall, 45 and 47), staying mostly in the mid to high 30's

I still enjoy shooting, more so now that I don't go and queue up and just go to a practice ground....where there is sometimes just me.

I don't and have not shot live game for years, but my best live pigeon day was 200, shooting alone. Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire...lovey place indeed...good and not so good memories.

I was referring to my club shoot when I say no one ever gets a straight 50.
