dad
i posted last week SGC re newal 20th december. finaly it arrived 17th. out shooting saturday 19th about half a mile outside village a helicopter comes over hovers some distance away and gradually gets closer and lower 15 mins, later its quite close and mucking the pigeon shooting up then we could hear voices coming from it but couldnt understand, the wind was wrong, i then got a phone call from the property owner saying the police were coming on the property a problem with us shooting and i better go and see them( this is a private security gated property no public f/paths etc.) the owner had been asked to open the gates its an emergancy. i put my gun away( i had still been shooting at the odd pigeon) and walked back through the woods to be greeted by 6 armed coppers with machine guns Hi guys i said as i walked up to them anything i can help you with, is that you shooting they says. i said yes pigeon shooting and perfectly legal too. they asked to see my mate took our names and date of birth and that was that. they said somebody had reported multiple gun shoots and they have to respond.i said we come here once a week since august never had a problem before who called you out, he wouldnt say. he asked me if the pigeon shooting was any good here i sad its alright but you would need a different gun. i must say they were really good guys. he said you dont have to do this but if you phone 101 cambs police and tell them you are shooting it will save us coming out and spoiling your afternoon and with that they were gone. what we couldnt hear from the chopper was lay down your weapons and put your hands on your head everybody in the village and down wind of it could and thought we were under armed seige. luckily the perm owner saw the funny side of it, it could have cost us a perm. the pub was buzzing saturday night with tourists etc. you should have heard all the differen rumors going around nobody knew it was me and my mate. OJW
Which part of that was the lucky bit? I'm struggling to see any positive other than that the rozzers were alright blokes and OP didn't get detained or shot. I enjoyed reading the story though, an eventful outing to say the least!
