airbrush

I used a little Badger for basic paintwork many moons ago before moving onto a Sprite, which I still have somewhere. Badgers are cheap and good for learning with before moving onto single or independent double action models such as DeVilbiss, Iwata or Paasche, but for modelling you don't need to get too expensive, and the latter ones aren't cheap by comparison.

Just make sure the seals inside the airbrush are solvent resistant otherwise it's a one shot deal. I used one a few times for car paint touch ups and radiator enamel repairs. They can make a very good job.

I was using tins of propellant until my Uncle told me he always used a car inner tube as a source of air.

DeVilbiss used to have a foot operated pump. It had quite a large reservoir for a small machine and was very consistant even using it on techie art work..I think I got mine from their offices in Middleton Manchester, don't know if they are still there. You need a damn steady hand when the impliment is in action 'cause the connection can be quite heavy, and drag you off where you want to be.The foot pump is also less noisy and will keep you fit...

If I recall correctly the Airbrush was made by Pache and they worked very well together.
