Tedward
I think the 595 action also weighs about a pound more than the T3 action, - but stand to be corrected by somebody who has both, cheers, Tedward.
Alan Maughan
The 595 weighs a few ounces more than the T3 but its good weight, a nice flat and square action with a much better recoil lug arrangement which takes to bedding very well. Each rifle is as accurate as the other providing the barrels are in good order, both share the same trigger unit and can both be rebelled into very accurate rifles. More accessories readily available for the T3 but overall I still prefer the 590/595's and both rifles from the factory can be very accurate to. 222 isn't exactly a long range or rapid fire caliber so I often feel the heavy varmint barrel spoils a great hunting rifle while not offering anything in terms of extra accuracy. Robyray
Hi I would say that the 595 is better, I have 4 at this time and if they ever needed to be fitted with a new barel I would do it rather than but a new t3. I have all sporting barrels in the following cals, 308 243 x 2 one with NV 222 I think they are cracking rifles and the actions seem to flow rather better than the t3. I did have a t3 in 222 but sold it to get a older 595 in the same calibre, Best of luck with your search, Rob.
Tedward
Hi, at the risk of high-jacking this thread (apologies to op), can anybody who owns both models give me a definitive answer regarding the weight difference of the respective actions in 243 calibre ? cheers, Tedward. malkiserow
Hi, at the risk of high-jacking this thread (apologies to op), can anybody who owns both models give me a definitive answer regarding the weight difference of the respective actions in 243 calibre ? cheers, Tedward. Most will find that hard to answer unless you had both actions only and weighed them. Some can answer for a whole rifle but that again is not much use to you as the stock and barrel length/weight will make a difference. The M595 is a better action but the T3 in .222 is very nice indeed I think it is safe to say the T3 action is a tad lighter but the other factors will make more difference. Tedward
Hi Malkiserow, I have a 595 that I was thinking about re-barreling and putting it in a McMillan edge stock, - but I then thought that if a T3 action was significantly lighter, it would make more sense to use one for a light rifle build. Unfortunately, I have been unable, with my limited internet search expertise, to actually determine the respective weights of both actions. Any help from a forum member with access to both would be appreciated, cheers, Tedward.
Tedward
Doh ! can anybody with a T3 tell me the weight of the bare action ? cheers, Tedward.
Savhmr
T3 is much maligned with many saying the 595 is better. In terms of build quality, that's perhaps true. In terms of practicality, finish and performance, I don't think that it is. The T3 is ever popular because it is a well made rifle and is as accurate as anyone could reasonably expect. It amazes me how good the T3's are for the money. Even using crappy PPU ammo, I can shoot sub MOA up to a few hundred yards with my .308 T3 (yesterday I think my best 200 yard group was around 1.7 inches with PPU ammo and that was in crappy weather with brisk winds). For pride of ownership the 595 pips the T3. Triggers on both are very good really. Bare action and barrel weights depend on which barrel and calibre. I'm not sure about the 222/223, but mine in a medium action varmint barrelled version must be around 6 or 7 lbs. Scoped up, with mod, and including the stock, all up weight is closer to 11 lbs.
