Millomite
Hi All An old guy in my office has just been telling me about what he used to do with his pellets when he was 'nowt but a lad'. He said he used to put a couple of drops of WD40 in the back of the pellet. He said it used to combust and increase the power of his air rifle. Is he pulling my leg? Scott Dont know for sure about wd40 but doing this causes dieseling in the rifle which is caused by "what ever" is applied to the pellets, doing it "can" increase power, but does so randomly and decreases acuracy competely can be cused even by too much oil in the sringers. LEFTY478
It may be possible. A diesel engine uses compression ignition, squirting fuel oil into the combustion chamber and then compressing the air/fuel mixture at a ratio of about 22:1. That raises the tempeture to about 400 degrees C, well above the flash point required to ignite diesel oil. But I doubt it's either sensible or legal. justme
On a springer (which his would be if he is older) then yes any oir / grease / hydrocarbons will increase power as they will combust (dieseling). BUT mostly it will trash the acuracy & also take you posibly over the legal power limit. Plus you could be doing damage to the gun itself. Funnily I dont think PCPs make oil diesel (combust on compresion & heat) in the same way. Justme
