dad
we have a osr field near us that we cant get a perm on, we drive past every day to go somewhere else and stop and watch the pigeons pour onto it, i have approached the farmer who says pest control is down to the contracter, saw the contracter who said hes got pigeon shooters already, we see some one shooting about once a month on a sunday morning for a couple of hours. anyway the contracter is out 8am every morning scaring pigeons with rockets and just recently has come up with an unsual idea, not sure exactly how he does it i can only see it through the bins but it consist or 5 rockets and a string banger placed in such a way that the banger goes of twice and then ignites a rocket it lasts about 5 hours. the pigeons have already had a feed by 8am and just sit in local trees and hedges snacking on berries etc. and come back to the rape late afternoon for a final feed, they soon got used to it must be a 1000 pigeons
TIGHTCHOKE
Don't waste your time watching fields you don't have permission on. Get round to places that you do!

Get round to places that you do! +1 We've all had experience of this. Just take it on the chin and (try to) ignore the field.
Cranfield
Those rockets usually attract a lot of complaints from local house owners, they certainly rattle the windows. There is a farm in my area that attracts pigeons, due to the amount of trees on the field perimeters, but they have "their own shooters". I am around and about all week and have never seen , or heard, anyone shooting on the fields. Come Spring you can almost guarantee that a couple of rape fields will be part resown, or cultivated and peas sown.

"Got my own shooters" is a standard excuse around here as it offends less than saying **** off!! As you say, you never see or hear anyone there and the confident way the pigeons troop in there confirms they are safe.
