hello, yes a bit of gold tinsel wound in the PTN and silver tinsel in the tail of a hares ear worked well to. i only use a variety of montana patterns most that i tie myself then buy a few dry patterns for summer fishing. get them from troutflies uk, it is good to catch on your own made!!!. cheers

If you need any fine silver or red wire for ribbing, PM me address. My Son in Law is an alarm engineer and uses very fine wiring which, when stripped, is perfect for ribs on flies up to size 10 and down to size 22. F.O.C.

hello, a lot of items like you mention can be used for tying fly fishing patterns/ haberdashery shops for threads and beads and tinsels etc, copper wire from old motors, if you can still get wine bottle tops some can be cut into strips for weighted patterns.
