Scully
Had a good run down there last Monday in a little over 2 hours after stopping for breakfast at a roadside caf' on the A500 just off J16 of the M6, and had locator plate down by 2pm so off to Morrisons for lunch then threw bags in digs at Premier Inn, quick shower then a stroll round the town centre on my own. What a nice town. Found a good pie shop for future reference, a Chinese just across the road and an Indian just up it. Bumped into a couple of the lads also out for a wander so went into the Wetherspoons on the corner but out of cider so went to the Black Swan(?) for a few afternoon refreshers. Over the week visited the Roebuck, The Fountain, The Cattle Market and another chilled out drink on my own in The Cock Inn, from where the last man to be hanged in Leek was taken after trial for murder in 1753...if I recall. Also the Indian, the name of which I've forgotten. Got back late last night after the usual traffic laden journey after another Passivhaus erected in two days for another happy customer. Will be back to Leek sometime; really like that town. Edited February 19, 2016 by Scully

loriusgarrulus
I like the poultry and small livestock auction they hold on alternate Saturdays in Leek cattlemarket. Nice town too, with lots of interesting small non chain store shops in town. Rudyard lake nearby with its mini steam railway and lakeside cafe is good too.
