junglebert
Last night the light and extractor fan in our bathroom stopped working, same pull cord operates both. Checked it out this morning, bulb is good, shaver socket and light above mirror still work, but the strip light in the room adjoining has stopped working too. Nothing has tripped on the rcd, no other issues. Anyone got any ideas where I should be looking? Am I missing something obvious?
bullet1747
Could be a number of things fron seized fan to loose wire ! Only way is testing , have you a multi meter
johnlewis
As said above possible loose or broken wire in a switch/light fitting or in a joint box needs to be investigated with a voltage/continuity tester to find loss of supply. Wiggum
Have you got a fused spur on the wall outside the bathroom could be a blown fuse if you have or possible a faulty switch ?
HDAV
Has someone turned off the isolator outside the bathroom (often over the door)
Wilts#Dave
Pull cord switch itself may have gone faulty. Check the light is getting 230 volts when you switch the light on.
junglebert
Thanks everyone, turns out it's linked to a dimmer so why I installed in the room below, lights on below, lights in the bathroom work, lights off, they don't. An odd one, time to get my friendly spark in I reckon. Dimmer switch! My phone does some odd auto corrects sometimes
decoy1979
Sounds like you swapped a live and a switched live over in the dimmer. How many wires/cores were there at the point where you fitted the dimmer switch?
