Wingman
Hi All In a theoretical situation where a gun cabinet is full and a new gun acquired, would it be acceptable to store the barrel, forend and recoil spring of an auto in the cabinet and the receiver in a loft secured to a rafter or joist by a heavy duty cable lock (or something similar)? Scully
I think so long as you have taken reasonable precautions you have satisfied the terms of your certificate.
TIGHTCHOKE
Like Scully says, you have taken reasonable precautions. But ultimately you are responsible and would have to prove you had if it was to fall in to the wrong hands.
Wingman
Thanks, I remember having a gun clamp thing that bolted to the wall in the 80's wonder if there still around!
Glenlivet
Thanks, I remember having a gun clamp thing that bolted to the wall in the 80's wonder if there still around! I had a gun clamp and left it rawlbolted to the wall of a house we sold. As I still have the keys it must still be there - unless they demolished the wall, as the bolts were only accessible when the clamp was open! Benthejockey
The best solution is to convert a room or build an extension and have a gun room with a heavy duty door 😜 We've just started planning our new build and I've already said I'll need a gun room so I can clean the guns and reload quietly away from Mrs Jockey (I've made sure I've been doing a lot of reloading/hammering the Lee loader when we've been talking about plans)
