TONY R
was looking around for a compact hide primerialy for wildfowling, wanted something that was not going to wave about much in the wind without the need for a lot of poles, came accross the ghost blind idea, the one here is a bit heavy at 12lbs for my needs, but thought about making something with that mirror corex from sign firms, interesting idea but not sure how practical it would be. Coments for or against, or as any one tried anything like this.
Hendrix's rifle
12lbs in weight probably wouldn't realised by most people when its on your back. I think its a cracking idea personally. If you could do something similar and make it a couple of pounds lighter for ease then go for it 👍
Doggone
Looks a brilliant idea. The only problem I could see would be on a breezy day. No doubt you could guy rope it down but would the shaking reflection spook the quarry. It's something I would definitely have a play with if I still went pigeon decoying. Andy. TONY R
Mirror maylar sheet off EBAY is 12 and a half quid for 5m , should be easy enough to make a blind like that, Corex is not reflective enough could look more Ghost than Blind. Wont work very well next to water, but open marshland hiding from geese even when angled down to pick up the reflection it should offer enough cover if you get low enough or drop in a creek, has to be an improvement on a cammo net

winnie&bezza
Looks brilliant really. Widgeon if it's angled downwards a bit then hopefully it wouldn't reflect the sun.

TONY R
Yeah Tightchoke i was not too clear, i was thinking of glueing it to corex sheet probably black and some hesian or similar preferably waterproof fabric inside. A complete wrap around blind or one backed up to a reedbed or bank would be ideal, open areas would leave you exposed to birds not coming from the expected direction, but no more than a normal net. Guy lines will keep it up ok, and i was thinking a lower hight than the video, but it would stell need to be higher than a normal hide to take in to account the lean forewards. Visibility through the hide could be better perhaps but the wind break effect could be a plus on cold days. How do you think it would work with 1 inch holes cut in it, would it distroy the effect or would it still be effective. would catch less wind and be lighter still. Here is a diy version with all the thinking done for you .https://youtu.be/UfcedpoBDbk Edited April 21, 2016 by TONY R

steve_b_wales
I thought about making something like this a year or two ago, but never got round to it. I was thinking of using perspex mirror tiles or tiles on a roll, fixed to some plyboard.
TONY R
Needs to be light, transporting it would be no problem, it could fold in four or five panels go in a fishing bag or similar with the poles etc.
