chrisjpainter
In a couple of weeks we have an extended family trip to Croatia. I'm hoping to pack the travel lure rod and sneak off for some fishing along the coast. We're staying not far from Split, half way between Debrovnik and Zadar. Has anyone got any information about what's around there and what works? Also, do I need any form of permit to fish the coasts? Any help would be much appreciated. Rod choice is my SG Roadrunner 20-80g, which will cast anything over 10g happily enough, but I do have a 3-18g lure rod as well. it's not as transportable, but if that's more appropriate i'll find some way of getting it in! dodeer
I love Croatia, it's a great country. I have no idea about the fishing but can ask some people who'll know
chrisjpainter
dodeer, that'd be great, thanks. I'm looking forward to it. I've never been, but my sister and bro-in-law (also going) went there for their honeymoon. Neither of them fish though. Poor form.

Tom R
Apparently you need a licence!!! My wife is from Makarska so I have fished there a bit but never bothered with a licence. Brother in law says don't bother as no one else does! No Idea really on fish types. Most of the big stuff is out past the islands. All the fish I have caught are between 6-12 inches long and no idea what they are called in English or Croatian as I cant speak much. Last time I was fishing there some damn big thing took hold of my dead bait and snapped me up on the rocks!!!

Fatcatsplat
I was on the Islands last year and there were fish everywhere with spinning being the main method. Lots of pretty fish with loads of colour.
