dazzyboi
My boss in work spoke to someone in his family over the weekend and by the off chance mentioned that someone (me at work goes shooting, he proceeeded to tell him about my gun), he then proceeded to tell my boss that he owned a few guns in the 80's that got taken off him, and he seemed to think that all rifles were banned. He owned 3 x .303 army rifles and a .22, they got taken off him when he came to re-new his licence. I think its the change in the licencing laws I.E must have good reason to own the guns, as i think he was keeping them as collectables rather than for using them. Can anybody else shine some light? he is addement that my guns are air rifles as all the rest is banned.

Ol' Bill probably found something on him and revoked his FAC, so he's made up a story for the family. On the other hand, your guns are air powered, well the bullets are propelled by air, sort of. Powder in the third state of matter (solid) is very rapidly converted through the second state (liquid) into the first state (gas), which is expanded at a massive rate of knots. Therefore air/gas powered rifle.
njc110381
I was born in the 80s so don't remember any new laws being passed regarding guns! Sounds to me like he either couldn't prove good reason to own them or done something to upset the plod. If he didn't use them, he didn't need them Show them your cert if you know them well enough to shout about posessing guns to them. Maybe even show them the rifle too

Doggone
Self loading centrefire rifles were banned about that time thanks to the Dunblane massacre, perhaps he had self loading 303's if there was such a thing ?? Andy
naddan28
Ask the boss, if you can park his car at 150yds in behind where your shooting as an 'air rifle' can't shoot that distance. after 5 shots, see what he thinks then
