AberFowl
Depends on strength of tide, depth, decoys, type of ground etc etc I have alsorts of weights from hexagonal 6 oz to small boat anchor
greenergp
I swiped one of the wifes baking trays for cup cakes and just put wire loops in the cup cake part and poured lead in, you can vary the weight to suit yourself
roostshooter1
5oz or 6oz will be more than enough to hold a decoy at anchor
TONY R
I got quite a few fishing weight molds for various shapes weights of lead, i use these without wires for duck decoys.
anser2
Rather than using Ebay I would have thought you will buy what you want from your local fishing tackle shop. The postage cost for lead must be very high.

panoma1
Easy enough to make, drill holes of the appropriate diameter/depth for the weight of your choice into a block of soft wood......heat scrap lead in any old metal container until it turns into liquid form.....pour the liquid lead into the holes you drilled in the wood, quickly place a piece of copper wire bent into an inverted "U" shape into molten lead....break out........job done! Guest
5oz or 6oz will be more than enough to hold a decoy at anchor+1u don't need out more than 5 or 6oz I use 5 on flat to choppy tide to 6oz when the bigger sea and tide running at Lindisfarne....breakaway leads! anser2
I think the weight of decoys you use will depend where you use them. I know marshes where 5-6 oz are plenty good enough to hold a string of a dozen decoys and others where 12 oz will not hold the bottom when the tide comes roaring in.
