Must admit i think the Basc,CA, ngo,sga and any others should forget allthere squabbles and politics and join together and act truely as 1 voice.

If they all stick a fiver or tenner on to there subs that goes to some joint pr/educational body.

While going to country fairs food shows etc is great. Wot they really need to do is get out to schools esp young kids primary schools taking them out in to the country mibee a farm walk in morning and a shoot walk in avo.

The other really important aspect where i think basc etal is failing big time is universites, esp uni's with big environmental, ecology departments as there potentially the new rule makers and enforcers, and most wil now be city kids with no clue about nature/wildlife and have grew up watching countryfile and springwatch and believe that BS.

Even many of the lectures are not all that clued up sometimes u have the likes of david bellamy being replaced by packhams,

The other unis/courses that should be targeted in journolism/press/media or even getting away days onto estates for older working jorno's.

The vast population will get its news/opinions from the tabloids or mainstream tv news, u need to be educating influencing those people to atleast get a fair hearing and put our point across.

if those types of peole had a walk round a decent estate and seen the wildlife and work carried out they would be impressed and just how much work can be put in and money spent on improving habitat

For some reason this country is becoming far more anti shooting and more detached from agriculture/contrysude than almost any other country worldwide, and whie it wil happen worldwide as we move to a more city based culture, in most of europe, NZ, usa, OZ hunting is still a perfectly acceptable and normal hobby but in last 30 years its changed here very very quckly and probably changing even faster now with twitter and social media.

I am finding the opposite in a small way, part of my business is catering with 95% of the food going to tourists mostly from uk towns, they are very happy to get food we have produced or caught, such as rabbit , mutton, venison, lobster and fish, no one has complained about the poor bunnies and lamb and seem happy to eat sustainable food caught locally and understand the logic behind it

Thats good to hear island gun, but wot do u think these tourist do when they go back home?

Do u think u also get a better class?? (not really the right word/phrase i'm looking for) but more open to those ideas as made the time, effort and expense to get out onto the islands?

Shop at big supermarket or support local butchers?

There is more farm shops and cafe type things round my area too, but more a novelty thing and they buy the meat as a 1 off,

I come from a small agri/market town , and almost all local butchers/food shops now shut, doubt i could push my bike up the high street with rabbits tied over the cross bar anymore. Often would leave it outside the bakers like that and i'd walk in with all my ferreting gear on and bags and boxes on my back

When i was at school still a few boys with ferrets but not that many, have spoke to slightly older folk and there used to be full on fights over who was ferreting where, now be kucky if a kid n whole school has ferrets and thats in a fairly large school where kids are bused in from all over in a small town

I dont have the answer mate, all I know is that sensible people are happy to pay for good local food, look at the success of farmers markets in the last 2/3 decades, sadly dont think those who will be tucking into a KFC today give a damn about the chicken they are struggling to eat, education education education (where have i heard that before ?) perhaps you should try biking about with a few rabbits on the cross bar you might find a market :)

or get your tyres slashed
