L200 Traction Control Lights and Limp Mode?

Has anyone had the problem of the traction control lights coming on and the power dropping to around 2000 rmp on a 2007 L200 or similar year?

Of course its Saturday and the local garage is shut - Strangely I was going to advertise the pickup this weekend moving on to a Toyota or Isuzu but I think the L200 doesn't want to go!!

Thanks

Have you tried switching the traction control off ? I have a 15 plate one and under heavy muddy ground the traction control will kick in and lower the engine revs . The traction control light is meant to come on when you are spinning any one wheel .

I have turned the ignition on/off, pressed the traction control switch at start up, running below 25 mph etc but its still in limp mode.

According to the L 200 forum there are a lot of fault codes so only a garage with the right equipment can repair or replace the dodgy part. I'm with Tam and think it could be the abs sensor but its like hissing in the wind.

Thanks for the replies!

Interesting question 69chris! Have you ever tried getting a fuse out of an L200's fuse box (the one under the driver's right knee) I will look in the handbook tomorrow as to the location of the aforesaid fuse as it/they might be under the bonnet in the other fuse box.

Thank you for your idea.

no sorry bud, my l200 has been (so far !!!) faultless !!

but as you say it could be.....well......anything !! its a shame your so far away as we have both bosch and snap on code readers/scanners at work and it would be just a few minutes work to save hours of head scratching

fingers crossed its something simple mate :good:

Like a few never had a light come on with my last two but to throw it into limp mode it's usually an engine sensor reading. Hopefully it's just a sensor packed up

I hope so!

Just spent a fruitless hour prodding around under the bonnet looking at the many fuses. There is (I think) a smell of burning so maybe something has given up?

Thank you again.

Update - For anyone thinking of buying an L200 - Brilliant vehicle - The dashboard warnings were because a breather pipe had split under the manifold. The truck is back to full power (and a bit more as its chipped)

Since the fault lights appeared I considered buying something a little newer - road tested a Hilux Invincible (expensive due to reputation) which had a distinct "truck" feel. Isuzu Rodeo Denver - again a "truck like! feel and I thought not a lot of grunt.

Might look for a L200 Barbarian so watch out PW's for my L200 Animal coming up for sale.

Hi ya, can I ask you after fixing this problem did the fault came back?
I keep having this fault, 1st the ECU light will come up and suddenly engine will slow down like when the pick up skid and then light will come up... driving forcefully... taken it to the garage, computer showed EGR valve, replaced the valve twice thinking the 1st valve came up faulty, but the problem kept arising, then replaced a breather pipe and fault as usual went for a day and then came back!

back wheel feels tight but I think is due to the skid sensor, both light ma are on at the same time... computer keep giving only egr problem...

anyone else have an idea? I have spend money on wrong things for the look at ..
