Passionforangling
I have been eagerly waiting for the only field of beans I have access over to be combined. On Sunday, I was walking the dog and from a distance could see the dust of the combine in action. As I got closer I could see pigeons trying to get on the field as the combine was still working! Now I don't shoot Sunday's, just doesn't feel right to me so I left them to finish off. The first time I could get to the field was Tuesday, but only in the morning. Conditions weren't great and I only managed 11 in a couple of hours. Today I went back and things looked better. A good wind at my back from under an oak tree that lies about 50 yds into the field. Recently I've been trying a flapper but today I took the magnet and 6 dead birds from Tuesday. Some birds decoyed really well others were taken at a greater range but it was all good fun because there was no pattern to the way they came in, they came from all directions. I thought I'd got a few, I lost count in the 40's so just carried on until 5.30pm when I packed up and picked up 79 birds. 4/5 were lost to distant hedges. I know I missed a good 20 or more so I could have had my first 100, never mind, there's always tomorrow!

Cranfield
Well done, 79+ is an excellent bag, there are many who would like a session like that. I am always commenting on the geographic differences in bird behaviour and beans is a classic example. Nothing seems to go near them in my area, just a few rooks/crows, but definitely no pigeons. I also don't shoot on a Sunday, never have done, just an old habit and also there are too many active Churches in my area. Don't see the need to disturb people when tomorrows another day. However, I do appreciate for some people, Sundays is about the only chance they get in the week.
Paul taylor
A good bag and as PC says one I'd be jumping for joy with if I had managed it so nice one mate. Around here the pigeon are going mad for beans and I'm surrounded by them, just a shame the keepers on the estate won't let anyone outside there clique shoot 😞
