Case cleaning

Recommended Posts

As I am bit lazy, I normally post off my cases to someone who has a tumbler and they send them back done, nice and easy.

As he is away at the moment, I thought I would try doing them myself investing the same, or preferably even less effort.

Vinegar seemed to do the job, but using it neat was a bit dodgy as my test case (get it) started to go blue when I left it out to dry too long.

I got me some Tesco's 'value' vinegar and watered it down 50/50 with water - chucked 50 cases into an old ice cream tub, shook them up a bit, and left them for half an hour.

Quick wipe down with a cloth and heh presto, almost as good as new.

The tarnished ones could have been up to 3-4 years old and would have been in my pocket on few very wet Scottish stalking trips, so hardly surprising it didn't remove those marks.

Anyway, worth a try, I would imagine Cilit Bang would do it even better

Hello a tumbler is good as it also clean's internalie to stop contamination of the powder or dirt etc but your case's look good.Best thing i bought was a lyman turbo of ebay £30 good for die's/rifle & accuracy kind of but give's it a better start.

No just good old ***** sarsons (tesco value) and then rinsed them out.

I stuck some in the oven when it was cooling down just to dry them out.

As for the tumbler, I know they get them clean but believe me these are cleaner on the inside at least, I chopped one in half a while back I will dig out the picture (I am not convinced they need to be that clean BTW but just as a comparison)

EDIT:

Here it is, found it again, this is a 6.5 case cleaned with vinegar and a wipe round with a cotton bud
