Try some of this 1.5 or 2mm neoprene around the outside of the silencer body,,it damps down the ping substantially. If you can get the ends off, replace any steel spacing washers with nylon which has a slightly smaller central hole than the originals and doesn't rattle. If you can be bothered, re-make the innards in the style of the Weirach ? using hair curlers and felt. Have a look on you-tube for details of how to do it.

Have a look at some of the rat shooting vids on YT. Various shooters using a variety of rifles, HW's AA's Rapids etc. Noise does not seem to be a problem, both mechanical noise from the loading mechanism and noise on discharge. Ok I think the recorder will be close to the gun and will probably amplify any noise a bit but does not seem to bother ratty.

Its the neighbors not the rats that I dont them to hear.

"Use hair curlers and felt in the silencer"............and how do I do my hair in the morning ????

I have an anti gun neighbour 2 doors down, she doesn't hear a thing when I'm shooting. I am discreet though; never go outside into the garden with my gun I shoot from the kitchen. Just open the door and sit back a metre or so. I make sure the side gate is locked and I sit at the table to block the lounge door. I also have a double thick piece of old carpet over my backstop to deaden the pellet impact. Been doing this a few years now, never had a problem.
