Duckandswing
I would like some advice on small shooting vehicle/dog wagon (not dogging). I had a lovely RAV4 I bought off here but in my over zealous ways I cracked the sub-frame beyond economical repair. I'm not fussed on if it's petrol or diesel as I'll likely only do a few thousand miles year. Needs to fit two collies and a whippet in the back along with a couple of guns and my gun bag. I don't carry any decoying equipment but ideally it'll take a straw bale and chicken feed when the dogs aren't in it. I don't really want to spend more than £2000, preferably less. four-wheel-drive
I would go on Autotrader and just put in 4x4 in your area post code and max £2000 and see what is for sale you can ether go with a proper 4x4 with high and low box or just a soft roader it up to you in the end. WinchesterDave
Was going to suggest Jimny until you mention three dogs... I could get all my kit And my Lab in the back of mine.... before it was driven into and written off...:(
Salop Matt
Jimny may be too small. Look at a Vitar, Four track, SWB Frontera, Rav
Davyo
If you only have 2k, you need to be vigilant in the rust department.Grand Vitara's are great but the sills are trouble. They dont do a copy part so its a cut out, fabricate and weld @ £300 plus.Brake lines may also require changing £150/£200.Loved mine (after all that work was done)and they will go anywhere with a good set of mud tyres. As WinchesterDave says,Jimnys are in a league of their own off road. I've had two,the 1st was fully fully loaded, plenty of room with the rear seats out and the back boarded out.The second was bog standard other than AT'some on it.3 dogs and gear might be a squeeze, might be worth having good a look at the Terios, with the seats down they might be a good one to try. Duckandswing
Thanks chaps. I think I'll need to view a few different vehicles.
Davyo
Try and keep it basic, mate if it's just a shooting/dogging bus (sorry dog bus) they less electric gadgets to go wrong the better.

Totally agree with that philosophy
UKPoacher
Forester should fit the bill.
