Lancs Lad
Went out with the old man on the weekend and one of my mates for a bash on the clays. My buddy has never shot before, so it was an experience for him. I let him use the Semi Auto to ease the KICK and he broke a clay on his second shot...........he did quite well. Although he was shaking like a chiuaua on crack, or a quivering like a dog having a ****. Was blaming it on the fact that he hasnt held a weapon of that size before....................this was of course met with howls of laughter.... But not of much as me saying,,Im going to give you a semi ............ Anyway, after we had finished, we popped down to a pup for a pint.....Now I dont like leaving the guns in the car, so it was bagged and over the shoulder, we walked in, ordered and then the "chef" came out and said we couldnt have guns on the premises. Said it was "illegal"...................Ive not heard of it before............ Anyone put me "right or wrong".....
bobt
The pub is technically a private house, if they dont want you or your guns in they can say so, their ball their rules.
dazzyboi
The pub is technically a private house, if they dont want you or your guns in they can say so, their ball their rules. Is it though? i think if you popped in first hand, explained the situation and then if they said yes, go and get them, if you just walked in with them they might get abit funny. Its upto them at the end of the day, i dont think its illegal.....is it illegal to carry a slipped gun across a public footpath on the way to your permission? i think its more the fact that they didnt want a gun in there pub

Anyone put me "right or wrong"..... well when i shoot at the reindeer nr wakefield. some of us take our guns into the pub, in sleeves I must add, rather than leave them in the boot one of our lads while in the pub got his car boot entered and his guns nicked. imagine the fall out from that. my answer is come down to to the reindeer and have a shoot with us and bring your gun into the pub. after all we taught you lanc's lads to play cricket we might as well teach you to shoot as well. look at my website for the reindeer. on http://www.peters-eaters.co.uk/ the landlord doesnt have a problem with this I don't think legal comes into the equasion. Tony9r
Best thing to have done would be lock the gun's in the boot, but remove the fore-end's/bolt's and take them in the pub with you OOOppps, just noticed semi-auto... no removable fore-end
BSA Shaun
To be honest walking in a pub with a gun on your back unannounced, if you were the landlord what would you say? I personally think the best thing you could have done was leave them in the boot for a moment, one of you stayed in the car with them while the other went into the pub and explained you did not want to leave them in the car due to security issues and believe them to be safer in your possession. Explained that they would not be loaded etc and that you would sit at a table and store them out of sight. Would probably have appreciated this. Just courtesy. Dirty Harry
The pub is a public place while open for trade. It is not illegal to have an unloaded weapon coverd in a public place providing you have a licence. The landlord can refuse anyone access and if he did and you failed to leave you would be breaking the law. Does this help? Harry
Highlander
mmmm a bad combination...guns, drink and driving Leave the guns locked in the boot and disable them, i.e. bolt out, fore end off etc. Maybe park where the vehicle can be seen from inside. Due dilligence is the watchword here.
webber
Lancs As your mentor, I agree with Dirty Harry & Highlander I think you got it wrong again! I dont believe that it is illegal, but if the landlord does not want your business, thats up to him. webber
DaveK
At least when we could 'ave 'em my Glock was small enough to take into the pub in a shoulder holster. if only they had known
Conygree
The sight of guns can be a bit upsetting - I had a call from A+E to say there is a guy in camo with a gun in the dept- great. So went to have a look, called up my mate ( ex-sas sniper) let him approach first to handle the situation - it was a squaddie bringing his mate in with a SA80 inverted on his shoulder with no mag in. The A+E staff were pretending nothing was happening but they were very worried - we assured them that he couldn't leave a weapon in his truck. We checked out his truck - it was genuine so could tell the staff all was ok. The squaddies were totally unaware of the situation and of being watched untill they left the site. made my boring job a bit more exciting. At the time advice from the police was that the most secure place was on your person. Funny how things change, innit? :(
