Has anyone ever seen oversize wigeon decoys for sale in the uk? I've seen the mallard ones but never any wigeon.

Got plenty of cheap wigeon decoys already but want a few better quality ones to chuck in the pattern next season.

Have seen some oversize ones in the usa but they're in american wigeon colours.

thanks

Mat i had not done any serious Duck shooting for year's in fact gave all my Decoys away.

This season I've picked up some very very good Duck Goose shooting.

Speaking to my mate who's mad on Ducking i bought 6 Cheap Mallard Decoys AND borrowed 12 Goose Sillosocks.

I put them out on raised poles to keep them off the water Widgeon Mallard Teal you name it they decoyed superb.

12 Goose Sillosocks light easy to carry set up.

This morning i shot 13 Widgeon 5 Teal 2 Gadwall 1 Mallard 1 Tufted Duck 3 Greylag 3 Canada and 2 Egyptian Geese over the Mallard and Sillosock set up in 12" ish of water.

If you are over Deep water get a Couple of Goose Shell's fill underside with Building Waterproof Foam ( to make them float ) set a ring and some weight so decoy rights it's self in foam then attach line an weight job done. 👍👍

I only usually use a bunch of wigeon decoys i got from decathlon, duck always decoy to them , had plenty decoy yesterday morning but shot poorly and only took home 6 wigeon!

Its just a curiosity really. I've got a couple of greylag decoys but i'm far to lazy to carry them when i'm not in the boat!

I have the same oversized wigeon decoys contrysports has links for. They are ok and do the job , but if you have any distance to walk they take up too much space in your bag. I use mine from a boat so thats no problem , but when on the marsh tide flighting go back to normal sized decoys. I can get 20 in my bag , but only 8 of the over sized decoys.

As Boyd says a mix of goose and duck decoys can work well. I remember one day when after the pinks out on the muds during the day following a full moon , we set out a dozen goose decoys and thought we would add 10 duck decoys to fill out the patten. We saw about 15 flocks of duck ( mallard and pintail )and every one came into our decoys, some locking onto the decoys from 100s of yards off. I suspect they duck saw they goose decoys and came to look at them before seeing the smaller duck decoys and coming right in.
