lopylui
Me and my other half are wanting to buy a cabinet for shotgun storage. After some thinking we are leaning towards a 3 gun and probably second hand to keep cost lower. This will be our first time going for sgc and would like to know your opinions for cabinet size (too small/big), fixtures etc. Also if anybody knows of a cabinet for sale near Sheffield/Rotherham in a local rfd or at a club/clay ground thats up to current British standard for sale please point us in the right direction. stewartward
Bigger the better many people start off with a 2 or 3 gun cabinet and soon have shell out for a bigger one myself included
walshie
Bigger is always better. Even if you don't fill it with guns, it's easier to get the ones you have in and out without banging them. Also i'd recommend studding and chemical resin to fix it to the wall. Wingman
Definitely go for chemical anchors to fit. Toolstation sell the right stuff and dead easy to fit. Also as has been said buy a cabinet bigger than you think as you'll soon fill it. Oh and avoid the **** ones on eBay and go for something decent like brattonsound. davelid
Definitely get a bigger one than a 3 gun for two of you if you don't you will regret it is did! .the lockaway cabinets are great I can get 8 guns in mine easy .
Uncle Albert
The main problem with the three gun cabinets is that the door doesn't open wide enough. The tang that prevents a bar going behind the door to force it off will interfere with any guns in the cabinet. Without care, any gun in the right hand side will get caught by this tang and get scratched. As everybody has said, get the biggest one you can afford. For the two of you, a seven gun cabinet would seem to be correct. Shooting is very addictive and you will soon need to upgrade a 3 gun cabinet.
