EMT
I am setting up a small clay ground to give lessons etc and I am struggling to get a sensible insurance quote. It is only a small setup with appointments only and not open to the general public. Does anyone have any recommendations. Maybe you run a small clay club and can recommend the company you use. I am looking for public liability as well as the insurance for the traps and equipment. Thanks EMT

bakerboy
If you are a member of the CPSA you will automatically have Coaching insurance, you can also get this insurance from the Association Of Professional Shooting Instructors APSI. There are numerous coaching insurances available. Are you a registered Coach and if so who with? this can also help If you are a member of BASC they can also help point you in the right direction. shaun4860
Our club left the CPSA insurance as whilst the quote was competitive, the fact you had to be affiliated to them pushed the price up. I hunted round loads of people but none were any good until I came across a company called Bluefin, It's as cheap if not cheaper than the CPSA but no affiliation, We have been with them for a good few years now,
welshwarrior
Who's your coach qualification with? They will be the best start point.
Salopian
Without any doubt at all the finest Shooting Insurance you can find is with The Guild of Shooting Instructors, but you have to be a member of The Guild. We have insured our Members and Grounds for thirty years , and I always research every year to keep abreast of premiums and cover . If you prefer contact NFU or Sun Alliance who can advise you , but their premiums are rather high ( in my opinion). BASC provide a policy for their accredited coaches but will also advise on other matters , speak to David Ilsley at BASC. CPSA provide a policy to indemnify qualified Coaches but not grounds or equipment on the same policy ( extra cost) APSI will provide some cover for members at extra cost. All I can say is be careful , make sure your cover is good. It may be useful to contact Grounds that have made claims to see how they have got on. If I can be of help to anyone please ask via PM. David BASC
Bluefin offer discounts to BASC members on their commercial packages. So if you are a shooting ground or clay club get in touch with them. If you need a contact number to make sure you get the BASC discount either PM me or email me For a one person show as it were then if you are a member we have a shooting professionals policy which is low cost
