Urgent advise

I was told that it is indeed possible to kill a severely injured animal but not with a firearm on the road.

The wording is " in extremis" which basically means that it is down to the individual to do it knowing well that if pulled up he may well have to defend his decision before a court?

That's a sobering thought?

Sadly humanity has become inhumane sometimes?

When I was at Sparsholt I was shown how to put a deer down when in dire straits ( no suitable firearm available ).

It requires a knife or screwdriver inserting at an angle into the depression in the equivalent of the breast bone. Better than battering it with a tyre lever

This is covered here http://www.thedeerinitiative.co.uk/uploads/guides/127.pdf

Have done it twice with lawful authority ( shotgun certificate to possess the gun) and reasonable excuse ( to load the gun in a public place ) to humanely dispatch and injured animal to prevent further suffering.

All other issues like safety, back stop etc remain as per all other shooting...yours.

Did it once at the request of a police officer and once at the request of a horse owner, horse is more complicated as I am not a veterinarian and also her insurance was invalidated because she choose to have it destroyed before a vet to get to it to confirm it needed doing.
