Shotgun storage using a clamp

What about a flat/horizontal vehicle type cabinet bolted to the floor in the wardrobe? Depends what type of wardrobe it is but if it's concrete floor that seems ideal. You may have some other floor space under stairs or somewhere that a flat cabinet could go out of sight. I've seen one of these under a bed with the carpet pulled back out of the way so when it had to be removed the carpet covered the holes.

I would like to thank everyone for their advice. I checked with my landlord and he said as long as I fix it he doesnt mind.

My feo said he would prefer the securicord properly bolted to the floor than the cabinet in a non sgc holders address.

I will be submiting my application in a couple of days and will wait until FEO comes round for him to tell me what is the best option.

Slightly off topic - would a 12 bore over and under Baikal be a suitable starting allrounder?

I'm still not convinced by that securicord product. I wouldn't trust it to secure a bike, let a lone a gun.

Still, not me that has to be convinced. Just your FEO, you, and if it comes to it, a judge.

I agree! A motorcycle ground anchor maybe....... biggest issue is how do you secure an Ou with a Short cable ???

Through the trigger guard? Not very secure...... many are held onto the stock with a single screw........

A gun clamp bolts to the wall like a cabinet and encases the whole action like this

Unless you had a large vented rib you could thread it through the trigger guard is the only place. As you say though that's hardly workable.

It's also being sold for nearly £50. The sum of those parts is probably £10 from a b and q.

A whole cabinet can be got for a similar price if you shop around.

My bad for not being clear - my landlord agreed to the cabinet, what I meant is that I'm just going to wait for FEO to advise where to fit the cabinet. The cord isnt an economic solution, and in the long run restricts to owning one gun.

Did anyone apply recently for an SGC in west mids? Their website gives an interesting time indication to process your application -

Go for at least a 5 gun, that will give you some extra space for now :)

Remember, you can just not use the extra space you have for now but can never use if you need it later and don't have it to start with! :)

Or in other words, always buy a cabinet at least 50-100% bigger than you think you need, it's a lot cheaper than having to buy a bigger cabinet later when you run out of room (as most of us have!) :)
