RingDove
Has anyone shortened the barrel on a CZ511, and if so, did it affect accuracy much? I'm tempted to get mine chopped to 16" and re-threaded. How much should I expect to pay? Cheers

Velocette
Accuracy will be unaffected provide the new crown is spot on,,,the cost varies but around £50.00 should cover it. There are some issues about re-proofing but I believe that is only a concern if you want to sell the rifle,,though how would anyone know that it wasn't that length when you acquired it ? Gunman
THERe ARE NO PROOF ISSUES IN SHORTENING A RIFLE BARREL . Please excuse the capitals but I want to get across once and for all this point . Shotgun barrels may also be shortened with out any affect on there proof status . Legal lengths are another matter . drut
Had my Brno 581 shortened by Dave Folwell@ Bowtec.Accuracy improved slightly probably due to his crowning skills, cost me £70 and although probably not cost effective as the gun is worth little,I am well pleased with it. RingDove
That looks brilliant, glad to know the accuracy improved! What length barrel did you go down to?

Davyo
Had a CZ cut to 14" at Bowtec in Birtly.I was going to go 16"but was going to ask him (Dave) about 14".Anyhow he was cutting his own to 14" so I thought that will do for me.Got it back 3 days later and after fitting the scope and mod it was grouping 5mm @ 54mtres within 8shots. drut
14" Has made the gun(+mod)so much more balanced/less clumsy/handleable :so well pleased.I was uncertain whether to bother shortening or not as my CZ452 22lr is normally my 22lr weapon/tool ofp choice:but glad I did:not quite as accurate as bolt action but more than good enough for 80+yds and a joy to shoot although the trigger is only "average". RingDove
I'm sold, will be getting it chopped down shortly! Agree on the trigger being average, but you get used to it.
