crichbish
My company car has to go back and I'm looking to spend up to £12k on one of the above. I've had a short drive in all of them and don't really have a preference, I am fearful of the LR reputation but understand the freelander2 is a good car. I would appreciate any comments on ownership of any of them, things to look out for, which one would you buy and why, and whether auto or manual is better, I prefer auto but its not critical. Thanks Chris
B391
Not had an XC60 or Outlander but I have had 3 Freelanders. There are pretty bomb proof for reliability. I'd always get an auto the TD4 150/160 BHP is generally plenty powerful, my last 2 have been the SD4 190 BHP auto versions. I have not had to spend any money on any of them apart from normal servicing. I put 60/40 AT tyres on them, and it will go almost anwhere, easily in fields, tracks etc and the cruise quietly on the motorway as well. Large space for 4 or 5 adults, good smooth ride, good sized boot. Around town i get about 33mpg, mixed cruising, 37mpg and cruising on the motoway about 40mpg My current one is my shooting wagon, dump run, it will be going to SW France in a couple of months. I have thought about changing it but the current one is now 3 years old and i can't find a good enough 0reason to change. Have fun with you search. chesterse
Had a Freelander 2 for about six years. For me has been a brilliant vehicle being very versatile, good off road and towing etc but will clean up to be a very presentable motor. Comfortable ride and about 36 mpg Not had any problems, only services and routine maintenance. Boot could do with being a bit bigger but plenty of room with the rear seats down. I would not know what to replace it with at the moment!
