Rewulf
Trump is a game/man of two halves really he is genuinely sexist/racist/misogynist/bigoted as there are plenty of events on record to show as such, but he ran on the lets make peace ticket....................which he rather quickly abandoned.....................proving (yet again) that POTUS are not elected but selected he is not in charge, the Military Industrial Complex and the owners of world media/banks are, that is the bigger point I am trying to make. ps. It's good to know that you don't care that the West has sided with SA , care to enlighten us which elements they're keeping in check that's more harmful than Isis or other somsuch terrorists ? You mean hes just like a normal bloke ? Seriously, not disputing the elected/selected part per se, but its pretty obvious the man is constantly under fire, for well..just about anything ! The news today is his handshake is a bit strange what does that have to do with anything ? Saudi is a crucial region for all of Islam, like it or not, its also crucial for oil production in the region. And when I say keeping in check ,I am of course talking about Iran, who have time and time again shown aggression to the west. Again ,like it or not ,stability in the region is helped by a friendly SA. Or would you prefer fuel to be 2 x what it is now ? The msm shows what Trump physically does and says, that is not something you can change, it is the slant they put on things you have to be able to spot. So for example when he hurried through his Muslim ban which has since faced several US judges and so far failed because it is against their own constitution , the media by and large chose to ignore its innate racist as well as political nature and the fact logic said he was leaving the biggest potential sources of "terror" out. This narrative can EASILY be changed on a whim and HUGELY affects how the man on the street sees and absorbs world information. He said it was an emergency yet here we are months have passed and nothing has happened to indicate it was an emergency yet during the same period white on brown crime has increased tenfold and statistics show white supremacist crime to be a bigger real problem to the US population. The same applies to Corbyn here, the establishment does not like anti war candidates hence the entire msm machination is geared towards mocking him and his policies even though 5 minutes spent browsing the Tory V Labour manifesto's show Labour is trying to help the majority, save the nhs, increase our policing capacity and protect our army from coming to unnecessary harm. So when I say broaden your horizons I am saying let yourself be in a position to read through different perspectives from many different sources and countries then make an informed choice as to what seems the most plausible. I am pretty sure that there are many thing 'terror ' related, that we never hear of, or never transpire. It may be his 'muslim' travel ban deterred something that was being planned? Strange the laptop ban came shortly afterwards, but hey, who knows ,misinformation is rife ,is it not ? White on brown crime seems to be one of those things that always seems to increase when someone or something who is reported as right wing, wins, or comes to prominence, or indeed something like Manchester. Or does it? Brexit, Trump winning, people/media seem to be awaiting racial attacks with a rabid excitement. Has it really gone up, or is just being reported more? You mention 10 x, really? where are those stats coming from, your 'tripe ' mainstream media ? Corbyn ? Yes he gets bad press, hes said to be a decent bloke. You think he could run the country? You are barking! Plus ,if you care to look at labours track record for wars and general daft policies, I think it will be a long long time before they get anywhere near No 10. Finally, you do not have a monopoly on 'enlightenment' I get my news and views from multiple sources, read between the lines and come to my own conclusions. Very little of what you read is the truth. Actions speak volumes.
Hamster
And when I say keeping in check ,I am of course talking about Iran, who have time and time again shown aggression to the west. Again ,like it or not ,stability in the region is helped by a friendly SA. OK then explain how that is the case ? Iran was invaded by the allied forces during WW2 despite having declared itself neutral and being a non participant in the war. The British and Americans conspired to remove its democratically elected first president Dr. Mossadegh (for daring to nationalise its oil) and replaced by the Shah whose own father was incidentally forcibly removed from the throne while he was re-constructing and bringing the country into the 20th century after centuries of stagnation. During the 8 year proxy war enforced on it by the West it also had to endure sanctions as well as chemicals and arms being sold to Saddam, murica also murdered 200 of its civilians by shooting down a passenger air liner ! They are guilty of supporting Hezbollah (an entity which would not even exist if it weren't for Israeli illegal land grab) but the worst thing they are guilty of is not capitulating to Western or American imperialist arrogance. They are the bad guys because they dare stand up for themselves. You clearly have failed to separate fact from false narrative and fallen for the fake news. ps. Bad boy Iran was also engaged fighting the Taliban waaaaay before muica found a use for the term and they right now are fighting Isis on the ground....................none of this can't see their Toyota trucks malarky . There you go again, assuming what I know or dont know, and again coming to the conclusion I am a sheep. Pretty simple why Iran was taken over by the west after WW2, think about it, Russia, the 'new' enemy ,right on the doorstep of an oil rich country, not rocket science is it? If they took Iran, which they clearly contemplated after the revolution, that puts them in a prime position for the rest of the Gulf. The repercussions of Russia in Iran are unthinkable, they got a very stern warning from the US, when they took Afghan, about not moving any closer to the oil. And yes ,its about oil, theres no secret, where would you have preferred to grow up, soviet Russia or in Blighty ? For what its worth, I dont think they are the bad guys, they are pretty much a victim of circumstance and geography. But, they have shown aggression towards the west, and enabled death and destruction on western military and civilian targets, this makes them an enemy. I dont need the media to tell me this, it is what it is. I actually have quite a few Persian friends, who live here ,but travel back regularly. They say Iran is the best its been for a long time. I know of all the stuff youre talking of ,and you are NOT wrong, but it isnt going to change anything. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, is all you can do. Actually it was the British, Soviets and America that invaded Iran to stop Germany getting to it first (or so the history books and filums tell us), so not rocket science but your initial thought was incorrect and besides Russia is extremely oil/gas rich itself as are many of the lesser countries surrounding it.....................the point being lost to all and sundry though is what right does any country have invading a neutral one and then decades later helping its enemies attack it and then expecting it to play all friendly. What choice have you left them but to build up their own indigenous arms industry (like North Korea) and to be suspicious of all that the West says or does ? All that backstabbing eventually comes back and bites somewhere, Iran has had zero choice but to ally itself with Russia and China more and more every day but many thinkers in the West agree that it is actually the West's "natural" and logical ally (it was during the Shah's reign). For what it's worth I don't believe you have any real enemies, most are manufactured and the reason is money, power, oil, influence and Zionism. Lets indeed hope for the best. What right indeed. But then again, human nature has driven acquisition for thousands of years, the Persian empire being no slouch in that department! Its not going to stop anytime soon, and no amount of protesting is going to stop the 'powers that be' from playing their chess games. The best us plebs can do, is strive to survive, educate each other and hope that one day things are different.

Vince Green
and the reason is money, power, oil, influence and Zionism. Oh no, you are not one of those are you? "Its all a Zionist plot". How did we get to Zionism on a thread about Nato spending?
fern01
It looks like the EU countries will be 'encouraged' to spend more on defence and more to prop up the basket cases in the EU when our contribution ends.
wandringstar
i just saw when he pushed his way past the Montenegro president, it was hilarious, people need to lighten up a bit. media reports say that the trip was a success and he operated at a level way above expectations, he showed respect and leadership and his speeches went down well, just reporting what I read, I wasn't there.
