Eyefor
...when Bridge is exempt because it is a sport? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40293974 Isn't shooting (in most of it's guises - and especially clay shooting) a "sport"? Anyone know why please?
JimLondon
cant see anywhere in the article where it says bridge is exempt from vat or that it's a sport

AVB
Shooting is exempt. See this. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/vat-notice-70145-sport/vat-notice-70145-sport However it only relates to 'services' i.e. entry fees and not sporting goods. toontastic
Really? I'll see if I can find the Cantonese version of the article. I think it's you who needs the Cantonese version, at this moment in time bridge is neither considered a sport or exempt vat (in the UK). The case is still ongoing so things may well change in the future. So jimlondon is technically correct in his statement. Scully
Not that I'm interested really, but heard on the radio yesterday that Bridge was now deemed a sport. Have no idea how true that is.
