wymberley
As I had to check for a pattern test. Actual pellets/oz currently for these are: Hull pro One DTL 300 7.5s = 392 Hull Sovereign (fibre) 7.5s = 392 Express Super Game 32g, 7s = 370 Express Special Game (fibre) 32g 7s = 370 Express Super Comp DTL 7.5s (2.4mm) = 355. Could not fault any regarding shot consistency for size and shape.
seeker
Interesting comparisons. Did you take the mm diameter for all the shot? I ask because the fitasc max is IIRC is 2.5mm (UK 6.5) and these seem to be from their premier sporting range. Im guessing the first two are using harder shot and may pattern more consistently (or not). Thanks Edited June 23, 2017 by seeker

Thanks No. I have a problem which I neither want nor expected and chose the above (in addition to others already tried) to see what was going on. I figured that 2 in particular might just pattern quite tight. From those 5, there's only one, possibly 2, that I can legitimately use. Even if something performs as wished, as I already have a shedful of cartridges I don't really want to buy more and have already spoken to that nice Mr Teague as my 'backstop'. Guest cookoff013
due to shot being round they will rarely uniformly round, they will differ if and when the same shot is measured and rotated a fer degrees. to calculate shotsize it is done by shotcount per ounce. the antimony content plays havoc with the whole shotsize thing, higher antimony shot being harder, will be less dense vice versa for very soft lead. now if you compared the sizes by measurements in mm, and had the same sized shot in mm, the hard shot would be lighter and have more shot per oz. marginally. but we are comparing premium 5% antimonly lead to 2%. i like batting around shotcount per oz. it makes more sense.... White Rabbit
All loaded by Eley. ALL labelled as 30gm 6 shot. Grand Prix 274 Pigeon Select 293 VIP 313 Classic (Cu) 310 Zenith (Cu) 260. What does that tell us? Havent a clue! The Zenith shot count in particular makes no sense to me at all. Also goin off shot count it would appear the budget Pigeon Select is loaded with harder shot than the Grand Prix? Could it just be a product of mass production and slack tolerances? Cartridges are loaded by weight so any slight difference in antimony from batch to batch will throw the pellet count out making comparisons useless. WR. Because you can never be really sure exactly what's been stuffed in the cartridge, for those who do it, this is your starting point for any pattern test. Oh well, another few quid to be forked out.
