CaptC
As I stood pondering The Meaning Of Life in a small muddy puddle during this morning's dog walk my eye was taken to several blood worms vigorously burying themselves in the mud for safety. I then spotted a most unusual invertebrate which moved very slowly (it certainly was alive) the same width as a thick horse hair and about 12 cms long. Of course I was not carrying the Box Brownie so alas no photos. I gently hooked the creature out onto my hand and was surprised how "stiff" its body was. It had a head the size of a pin head, jet black in colour and as said about 12 cms long - Anyone any idea? I went back these evening with "the little dears" but it had of course long gone!
