Ultrastu
Just a couple of hours on the rape stubble but it was very enjoyable all the same . The 2 on the flappers were the first pair that dropped into my plastic decoys and I dropped em both .So on the flappers they went .perfect start . I've found they tend to feed on this stubble around mid day but then leave it in the later afternoon and go over to the standing wheat 1/2 a mile away . Oh i shot well too , As i only missed 4 birds ,that ishouldn't really have been shooting at anyways as they were very tricky shots .

JDog
That rape has clearly chitted. In my limited experience pigeons do not find chitted rape like that of much interest.

JDog
Does that mean its re seeded ? Ie regrowing ? It was cut 11 days ago . First opportunity to get on it ive had When you see the green growth it means that the spilt seed has been rained on and it has then germinated. That is of less interest to pigeons than the straight un germinated seed.
Ultrastu
Out this afternoon with my mate on the wheat stubble .only 30 for 6 hours but it was truly one of the most enjoyable afternoons shooting ive had this year . We watched the balloons go up from the bristol balloon fiesta .and chilled in our bail hide and chatted while a few birds came to say hello . We both shot well .and only about 5 birds got away from us .

Ultrastu
Thanks mate . That's exactly what it was . I'm on holiday from next week .and that was the perfect shoot to think back on while floating in our pool Supping a beer . Most of the harvest will be done when I get back and it will just be scraps on what's left .so today was lush . No where near my biggest bag of the year but so what ?? .
