McSpredder
Suspect this is a Birmingham-made gun retailed by H Adkin & Sons (of Bedford), rather than one made the more famous Henry Atkin (of London).
bruno22rf
My thoughts as well McSpredder - easy mistake to make.
wabbitbosher
H Adkin ( Henry according to the 1920 census) and Son 57 High Street Bedford, I suspect that's why it's £160 and not £1100

WelshAndy
Atkins or Adkins - it's still a cheap 20 bore even after a reblack
McSpredder
A Birmingham-made BLNE in sound condition can be an excellent buy. Very little to go wrong, most things easily fixable by any competent gunsmith, generally much better value for money than a complex but tired old London sidelock. This one hasn’t travelled very far in its life – Bedford to Kettering is only about 25 miles. If the cabinet had not been full, I would have snapped up this Adkin. It would have looked nice alongside my Gallyon which, other than being a 12g, is of almost identical spec. The border engraving (simple but neat) is so similar that they could well have come from the same workshop.
