Wiggum
Does anyone know how I can find out the manufacturer date of a Baikal SxS that I've recently picked up from Wabbitbosher, it's stamped made in USSR so I'm genuinely interested in how old it is as it's in superb condition and has a nice bit of timber fitted too. Grange1905
What are the letters of the serial number and the model? Edited August 24, 2017 by Grange1905
Wiggum
It's a Mk43m Deluxe and the only serial number I can see is 011584 ?
Grange1905
Check the barrels and action. With baikals some of them would have it stamped on the gun and some would only carry them in their gun passport that would be issued for the first time buyer. It depends on how they were feeling that day. Ill try sending an email to izhevsk factory, maybe they can dig it out..
panoma1
USSR collapsed in 1991 so it's pre this date!
CaptainBeaky
Have a look on the Shotgunworld forum, specifically the I Love My Baikal sub-forum - this question gets asked frequently, and there is a local on there who goes by the handle of Humpty Dumpty, who is something of an authority on Russian shotguns. Grange1905
1984. Depending on the models some would carry year of manufacture at the begining of the serial and some do at the end. It's easier with the ones made for the USSR market - they just carry a letter at the begining of the serial which indicates the year. Hope you enjoy the gun! ehb102
There was a tool on the Baikal website a couple of years ago. I used it to date my 43EM.
