redial
Has anyone made this type of jump. Looking for ideas, something that will fit in a medium sized trailer. Sectional not too heavy, easily stored for another time. I was thinking of a national hunt racing type hurdle but wouldn't know where to start. Many thanks. Benthejockey
Easiest type is either a tiger trap or a hurdle type. A tiger trap is basically a triangle frame with rails attached front and back. If you're using half round rails put up rights inside every 4-6ft to support them because they snap way too easily if a horse hits them and you don't want to be fixing it every two minutes. The hurdle is the same but instead of rails use a solid sheet of ply cut to about 3ft high. Any higher and they won't jump it! Most people are frightened of anything bigger than 2ft 6! If you've got money to burn face it up with rubber matting or you can use Astro turf/plastic grass or just paint it. Over engineer anything horses are going to jump because they will smash stuff out of the way!

Showumping style fences are easy to make and also move / change to keep them interesting. A couple of oil barrels and some poles and you have an effectively infinite range of possibilities. A NH style jump is also good craic - you need something solid on the wings, and then just pack the fence with brush. XCountry style fences can also be done - but these are usually quite rigid, which isn't ideal from a safety perspective.
