Another visit by police

Had a friend round and suggested we do a bit of clay pigeon shooting. We fired a few warning shots, about 100 in total but a few clays won't be going back to their loved ones tonight (a very few...). Must have been out about an hour and we were sharing a gun between us, 12 bore Baikal. At least an hour after we'd finished and packed everything away (apart from the shotgun, as it happens) and were chatting up in the barn, I had a phone call from the house saying there were 2 policemen who would like to talk to me about noises of explosions. Fortunately, I had the shotgun with me and brought it down, broken, with my mate by my side (who is a criminal solicitor so the perfect person to be a witness :D), as well as a couple of empty shells (7 1/2 24gram 12 bore, nothing hot). The complaint had come from a lady with a nervous dog on a road about a mile away, over a few fields and 2 woods - the wind was in that direction but I can't believe it was THAT noisy... Police were fine about it, incidentally, although quite how they knew which house to call I don't know. Can't be many shotgun owners on my road, it seems!

Probably letting her dog stray onto land that she shouldn't be on and got closer than you think. People will lie quite readily against something they don't agree with
