Graham M
Can't believe a gun company of this size has gone. http://money.cnn.com/2018/03/25/news/companies/remington-bankruptcy/index.html
Vince Green
Technically, its filing for Chapter 11 which is a half way house but stops its creditors seizing its assets, while still allowing them to trade. Its not good though, a lot of other gun and ammunition companies are in the same position.
RockySpears
Weirdly, they blame Trump for falling gun sales as the Republicans are less likely to support gun control, which pushes up sales: https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-03-26/cerberus-takes-bath-americas-oldest-gunmaker-files-bankruptcy If these guys can't make a profit in the US, who can? It may come out of Bankruptcy is sales can pick up, but don't hold your breath, RS Edited March 27, 2018 by RockySpears spelling + context
Walker570
Very convoluted situation. Remington had a trigger problem some time ago which may involved class actions. I have read numerous discussions by guys in the USA and they believe Remington will survive. Almost all of these big gun manufacturers are not actually 'owned' by the company but by 'investment' companies out to make a buck. Personally I do not understand the wheres and wherefors of how the companies are financed but it appears many 'named' companies are owned by these 'investment' companies now. Winchester, Colt even FN went the same way.
Deker
They seem to have really struggled to lose their "poor quality" reputation, possibly stemming from the trigger issues (I'm not sure as I haven't really followed the company) but whenever I've been looking to buy a new rifle the RFD's I've been talking too have always discounted them straight away, always steered towards Tikka and even more recently Howa, whether this is actually due to the quality/reputation or if it just boils down to better margins on the others I'm not so sure.
