ELIMINATOR
Thanks guys, it's seems I am not this only one who has gone through this, and I appreciate all the reply's (good and bad) so I am going to put firearms on hold for a year or two, then maybe look at applying again, I will have to look more into the air rifle side of things for now, just to keep my hand and eye in. Something tells me my old Chinese Springer is a bit out of date, any suggestions on what to go for ?

Join BASC now, their insurance should help you, if the police refuse your application without good reason, when you come to apply in a year or two! If youve got £5-600 to spend, one of the Turkish PCPs like the Kral or RM8, £100 worth of scope and a mod, and you good to go. Or if youre feeling a springer AA TX 200 or any Weirauch. Try and hang on to those permissions, they will help you tremendously come the time to reapply.
Retsdon
If someone is convicted of a crime it seems that the police must do a data search to ascertain if anyone they're connected with in any way has a firearm or shotgun certificate. The problem is that - not unnaturally given the current climate - the first consideration of the officers doing the search will be to cover their own backs. Natural justice comes in a poor second.
