al4x
.......and how many of you can tell a grey from a red drey ?? If you use drey poles you`ll know No wonder reds are endangered It does depend what part of the country you are in, its been an awful long time since we had any red squirrels in the South East. Northumberland and scotland it will be an issue but not where we are

Sussexboy
.......and how many of you can tell a grey from a red drey ?? If you use drey poles you`ll know No wonder reds are endangered Well I must admit that I did cross the border into Kent for my squirrel shooting trip, but there were no reds there either. I've not seen a red squirrel round our way since I was a nipper. Although of course that isn't such a long time.............................ahem
dunganick
not to mention that shooting dreys is illegal, for the reason that pin outlines. however its the most productive method, and there are no reds around here. you can also tell the difference between a drey and a birds nest. vole
I shot my handful with Eley32gr 6 subsonics.Saw a strange thing after shooting the last one from a point above it.Rat was on soil and was almost wholly buried by the shot.Literally planted. It was more pummelled than penetrated.I thought burial too good for it so used it for crow bait.Used a full choked hushpower.Very satisfying killing squiddle even though not a game shoot for miles but there are plenty woodpeckers. All reds in Lake District.
