billytheghillie
My Mrs has a License just to drive Automatic cars. My question is this, some automatics come with semi-auto paddles on steering wheel as well, will she be legal to drive such vehicles? Harnser
With most autos you can change gear manually by changing through the gear box from first gear through 2 gear into third . These paddle gear changers are just another to do it . She will be fine using one of these paddle changers on her auto licence . harnser
wascal
Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regs 1999: Defines automatic "vehicle with automatic transmission" means a class of vehicle in which either - (a) the driver is not provided with any means whereby he may vary the gear ratio between the engine and the road wheels independently of the accelerator and the brakes, or (b) he is provided with such means but they do not include a clutch pedal or lever which he may operate manually. So basically no clutch pedal = automatic.
bornfree
if you pass your HGV test in an auto truck you can still drive a manual one.
