tikkamark
Hello all i was wondering did any of you use the 64grain soft points in there 223's.My local gun shop has got a batch of them in there federal power shoks have you ever used these on foxes?I was concerned the flight path would be a bit loopy but if any of you lads recomend them i might pick up a box or two as there not to badly priced at €20 a box my tikka should handle them fairly alright with its 1:8 twist.Any input would be most welcome Mark
Dead-Eyed Duck
Stick to 50 - 55g as the fragmentation would be better, plus the trajectory would be far flatter. Don
deadeye ive
The power shok in a blue box replaced the classic range in a silver box ...........The latter shot well in my set up but the newer and replacement PS range were absolute garbage .......On my personal experience it's a 100 yd round and no further if shooting on flat land or off a BI-Pod

All i can go on is that i'm not alone in being disappointed in the Power shok brand ..........I personally did'nt have the confidence to stretch these past 100yds because in my M595 they grouped 3"+ at 100yds .........I might have shot futher if my firing point was higher whereby if you did miss then the round would hit the ground not far past the quarry ........Unlike if it was taken from a bi-pod on flat land ..............Not hilly at all around these parts mate Give them a go .....they might prove to be successful through your rifle. Frank
I got a couple of boxes of these aswell Mark, they did not group the best in my CZ ither, but, mine is a 1 in 9 twist, wheres yours is 1/8, so, they might be better. Only way to find out as ive says is to try them. Personally, from my experince with them, i found them to be inconsistant, one box, even with the same batch number, varied from the other box, not good and i also found, past 150yds, they were unpridictable. Try them if you can Mark at ranges up to 250yds, see what happens, but i think i will stick with the AE for the foxes. All the best, Frank. bacchus180
I've got a 1 : 8 twist as well.. I have tried the remmy 55 gn accutips and the black hills reloaded 60 gn ballistic tips, the latter group closer.. I can get them in less than an inch at 150yds, the gamekeeper I was shooting with managed to keyhole at that range. I wanted a ballistic tip that would kill at 300 yds and I think I have found it, I was using 77gn match hpbt before.. we put 5 through the same hole at the same range.. but I wanted a ballistic tip, I find the lower weights 50 gns and below might be flatter but they wonder about in such a tight twist. infact I think you will find anything lower will fragment as the faster the round the higher the rpm and it just can't cope. I think you need to be looking at a speed below 3000 fps to remain intact. sure the drop is more but just work it out.
Paul223
If your after foxes stick to a hollow point or polymer tipped bullet, think you'll find the power shock is more desinged for deer
