I use 42 grains in the 10. What powder load would you use with 42gm steel.
figgy
I've loaded 37 grains with 36 gram of BB and it's fine. The load for the 31/2 42g with 40gr of A Steel was tested by a member with roll turn over and was 927 bar so below the limit. The crimp and spinner will raise it but no over pressure signs on the primer or cases. Will have to chrono it see what speed it's doing. I'm sure the Maxus I shot it through will take it. Some loads I saw were 43 grains. Edited August 29, 2019 by figgy
Guest cookoff013
That 36grain / 36gram loads are really great and efficient in 12gauge. Real efficient
figgy
Cookoff I have loads of the 36g I loaded last season. This season I've loaded up 25 of the 42g BBB 31/2" for the geese that stay out a bit. Other wise the 36g will suffice. Clean burn and no unburnt powder. Will chrono the load when I get chance, I expect around 1400 FPS.
pigeon controller
I've shot many thousands of steel through my shotgun and can see no concerns with the barrel as already stated the shot cup protects the barrel from the shot.
