Zimtrout
Good afternoon all, does anybody have any idea what is the best way top get a rough age of the above gun. I found it locally and the gunsmith did not have the books or records anymore. ( he has stopped trading) . I have the serial number, and it is stamped on the barrels, action and fore end. cheers for any help, hoping there are a few gurus on here who might be able to help. Cheers ZT

You havent given people much info to go on. A decent photo of the proof marks will also help.

With reference to Nigel Brown`s `British Gunmakers` serial number 7912 dates your gun to the period 1905 - 1906.

bruno22rf
Fairly typical Brum Gunmaker - but I think he made barrels for the trade - seem to recall some well known London makers used his Damascus barrels and he was quite a driving force in the introduction of chokes. Gunman
Proof marks are always a good start with guns of this age .
