grrclark
Most auction houses are surprisingly well connected and even if they don’t normally sell what you are putting up in their sales room they will brief other dealers and agents for online sales. Remember it is in their interest to make as much as possible too.
Bobba
And then there's the Commision and other auction costs payable by both seller and buyer on the same object. Antiques-marks.com provide a useful guide of what could be chargeable.
ratchers
Make sure you cost it out if going through an auction house. Some charge an awful lot of commission 25% or more plus if the item is that special they may want it in a specialised sale which will incur more costs, photos, insurance storage etc Obviously you have an idea of what it is and ball park value, if not google it. Maybe FaceBook would be an option?
