casts_by_fly
Hi All, Being new here I'm still learning all the processes. I was wondering what the typical profile is for someone applying for their first FAC. I see lots of posts of people applying for their first and was wondering if it was typical to apply for one having little or no experience with guns. I ask because I am applying for mine right now, but I have plenty of experience shooting (15+ years). It seems to me (from reading this board) that most either 'graduate' from a light air rifle or want to shoot more than what they can with a shotgun. Is this true/typical? Thanks, Rick
dazzyboi
I applied for my FAC just before xmas, i recieved it end of May. I applied for a .17hmr, I recieved this with the condition for vermin control (including foxes) and also target condition. In order to gain the FAC, I had to do a 3 month probationary period down a local range, in my first month I purchased a CZ American .17hmr (see sig) brand new from the club (he can source new rifles) which he kept on his ticket, I could use it when ever i wanted down the range. After 3 months I gained my own ticket, and was able to take it home and use it up the permissions I have. Im 22 years old, been shooting air rifles since a young age, iv owned and shot shotguns for about 2 years.
chunk
Had shotguns and air rifles for about 20 years, but my shooting mate said he was applying for an FAC. I still didnt think i would want it until he bought his rifles, then i knew i just had to have it. Had FAC for over two years now.

casts_by_fly
Hi guys, No, I don't have mine. As njc said, I need one to bring my guns over. I've only been in the country for a month and a half right now and I'm still transitioning all of my stuff and residency. I have my applications filled in, I need to get a safe. Before I can get a safe I have to get the rest of my furniture delivered so I know how big I can get one. I guess I could start the application with a 'future drawing' as some have suggested on here. I don't know that the extra 2 weeks will make much difference though. My intention is to have the certificate before I go hoome for Christmas so I can bring the guns with me when I come. Thanks, Rick
