Mungler
Got to be worth a trip to the States to take advantage of the exchange rate if you are spending that much....

badsworth
Got to be worth a trip to the States to take advantage of the exchange rate if you are spending that much.... Except that you wouldn't be allowed to take it out of the States without an export licence - which you would not get! They are dead leary about exporting military type stuff at the mo - even gun sights, but especially NV kit. B
Ballie
Is there anything to stop someone flying to the US buying a NV then posting/sending it to yourself buy UPS then flying back home and waiting for it to come? Just a thought or am I talking bull?
steyrman
not to sure on that one i can see where your coming from in theory its agood idea but if they scan the package at the airport but its only a scope not a pistol or rifle i would not like to pay all that money for a 50/50 chance of success more so being the usa the homeland security at the moment is high
Ballie
My thoughts would be to remove all original packing and instructions and send it via UPS informing them that the package contains an optical spotting scope. If they scan it, it will clearly look like a spotting scope on a scanner, if you buy a scope with nv attachment then I would take the scope home in you luggage as that is allowed and just send the nv bit as I have said, with the thousands of parcels leaving the US every day for the UK I doubt you would have any trouble, just my thoughts that all. A Sick Old Man
I would NOT recomend that, you may end up in a very deep pile of poo And you are likley to lose a lot of wonga!!! That Pilkington Kite is used by a number of military and law enforcement bod's, but a lot have moved over to the Simrad system which fixes onto the users scope. About seven grands worth There are some not bad ex soviet block ones about, they are not too bad. My own personal opinion is that a good lamp with variable power is much easier and cheaper. The ex military chaps on this forum will tell you how much of a pain it is to keep scanning through a NV scope, even worse with a bloody heavy varmint barrelled cannon. After all customs are looking for a lot more than weapons parts. This is where false declarations on pro-forma invoices can cause problems. We ship a lot of stuff Internationally and they tend to hold things first then just open them which they retain every right to do. Then you have the issue that getting the goods back may be difficult plus the sender risking prosecution if its blatant and its really not worth it.
