Gordon R
I made this about 35 years ago and came across it today, whilst looking for something else. It won't win a beauty competition, but it is actually one of my most useful tools.
Danger-Mouse
Probably wrong but it looks like you could open tins of paint with it.
Gordon R
They would need to be large tins.😀

Gordon R
Close. Placed between the wheel rim and the tyre, it ensures that tyre stays away from the raised shoulder on the wheel. I could have used it yesterday, when I punctured two tubes whilst fitting a rear tyre on our Honda CR500 AF. Found it today and it made light work of fitting the same tyre. team tractor
Dam it was going to say rim protector. I had a mate that worked in a tyre bay so it looked after my anodised rims 😎. I’m shot at not puncturing tubes
Gordon R
Just noticed that it is made from West Germany spanner and some round steel rod, flattened on two edges. The bend is half decent. Now if only I can find the tool which drags the valve through the rim - made up from a valve remover and a piece of bicycle cable, with a handle on. Haven't seen it in over ten years, but it will be in the garage somewhere. I think I need to quit searching and make another tomorrow.
