njc110381
I can't believe the amount of shootings being reported on the news recently. The biker, the young lad, and now a police car being shot at on my local motorway (just to name a couple that come to mind!). Why can't the government do something about this? A lot of the time it's young kids with the guns, they don't know what they're getting into and nobody is there to guide them. I find it really sad that more isn't done to find the people that supply this kind of kit to a child. Kids have no boundries nowadays, and taking a rivals life is something they see as cool, a respect earner. Things are getting really bad now, and it's been proven that the handgun ban has done **** all to fix the problem. When can we expect to see some real action that isn't the easy way out? Actually getting out and finding the illegal arms and the people that deal in them?

beatingisbest
A lot of the time it's young kids with the guns The problem lies where the guns are illegally owned, and more of a "gang" type of lifestyle that these kind of kids like, seen in films and thinking its cool and wanting to do that themselves. FM is a young kid with guns but its the difference between a sporting need, legally owned and FM's total respect for his guns and a thug of a kid who keeps a pistol under his bed, and pulls the pistol out when "he wants to pop a cap in someones ****"

njc110381
There are certainly two types of kids in the world. Selfish kids who want to look hard to their mates, and respectable kids that get no end of problems doing what they enjoy because of the bad ones! When I was a teen I was pretty bad, although I never hurt anyone I was out of control. I had some mates that were worse than me, and one of them offered me a Sig P226 once for £100. I turned it down luckily, as I've always had a respect for sporting firearms and knew this thing was going to get me in a huge amount of trouble if I did take it. I would have only shot at tins with it, but even then I understood the potential of a 9mm pistol and realised what could happen if the rounds went astray! It shows how easy they are to come by though, my area isn't really that rough at all! Kids who are scared of being hurt by these gang cultures they are forced to live with must see it as the only way to stay a step above their enemies. The lad who offered the gun to me is dead now, he crashed a stolen car at over 100mph and turned himself inside out against an advertising board. Even though he was a friend, he got what was coming to him. He should have seen it coming and sorted himself out like I did! Kids need ground rules, if they don't have them they will test the boundries to see how far they can go. Tougher discipline is needed I think, once I got caught out of order by the police and I was dealt with fairly harshly I soon realised what a pr*** I had been. If only these kids got that chance before going as far as taking a life

You can mould rough bullets from lead, and 9mm cases can be formed well enough to work from a cut down sporting rifle case (I think a .308?)
