Cushat
Apologies for the probably very basic question, but can you get auto-safe semi-autos? I've never owned one in many years of shooting, and the few I've shot have always been manual safe.

casts_by_fly
Cushat, I've been shooting semis for a good while now and have seen no such thing. The closest I have seen is the single shot selector on the browning A-5. You can flip the switch and it will hold the bolt open after every shot. You will then have to manually hit the release button to chamber the next round. Not much different than if you only chambered one round anyway since the last shot keeps the action open on most guns. I guess you could fill the magazine and not have to reach into your pocket after each shot for a new shell. Even still at that point you've lost the benefit of a semi- quick reloads. Thanks, Rick
cartridge
i have seen this rod that goes in a semi-auto that flicks the safety on the when breech goes back and stays back(when the gun is empty)
Cushat
Cheers for the comments. I guess I'm just used to auto safe O/Us and SBSs and haven't used a semi-auto much so I'm just a bit wary of a non-auto safe gun in a pigeon hide. Guess you just behave accordingly... JRDS
You shouldn't rely on a safety catch, proper handling is far more important. Semi's are fine in a hide if handled correctly.

Not much use for multi shot use so I will say no......................... but you can press a button which disengages the magazine feed to one shot so I suppose that is a sort of auto safety?
